I just finished reading “A Lineage of Grace” by Francine Rivers.  Francine Rivers took stories of women that were in Jesus’ lineage and told their stories, as she perceived them to be. The story of Rahab has been on my mind a lot. Rahab was a prostitute who lived inside the walls of Jericho. The whole city was worshipping idols and false gods, but Rahab put her hope in the living God.

Joshua sent two spies to Jericho to look over the land that the Lord had promised them. They stayed in Rahab’s house. When the king found out about the spies he sent men to kill them, but Rahab kept them safely hidden on her roof. Her knowledge of the city and the people served well to the spies. They got back home safely with a promise to keep her and her family in her house safe when they came to destroy Jericho.

“The seventh time around, when the priests sounded the trumpet blast, Joshua commanded the army, “Shout! For the LORD has given you the city! The city and all that is in it are to be devotedto the LORD. Only Rahab the prostitute and all who are with her in her house shall be spared, because she hid the spies we sent.

We left Abba House earlier this afternoon and are flying out on Monday. The girls and boys will be separated for this month. The ministry the girls are working with is called SHE (Self Help Empowerment) in Phuket. As we get ready to go I feel like I am relating so much to this story. I have been called by God to be on this trip, this mission. He chose me to come here to Thailand for a reason. Just as the spies went in to Jericho and maybe the only reason for them to go was to get Rahab into the freedom of God’s people, I am headed to Phuket. I am going with a purpose of following God’s voice in this city he has given us. I know there will be women searching for something more; searching for some light to come out in the darkness they live in. I can’t help but get excited to seek out that one lost and broken girl. Even if that is the only reason I am here. I feel so grateful that God would use me to love these girls and to speak His name so they can know Him too. I can’t wait to go explain to a prostitute that no matter where she is, God loves her and all He wants is her heart.

  1. Wow, you are doing so much in your young life. I’m glad you are growing and seeing God’s people and spreading his word to the ends of the Earth. Keep up the good work.

God please protect the team and the lives they have touched through this mission. Amen

  2. Beautiful. I just finished reading Lineage of Grace (again) and love the story of all five of the women in the lineage of Jesus, but Rehab is the one that I love the most. How perfect that you were given the opportunity to hear of her life and how God used her to graft a people into His chosen. I will pray that her story will continue to inspire you as you are in Phuket working with SHE. Praying your whole team will be blessed abundantly by the people you are called there to serve!

  3. The Lineage of Grace is such a beautiful story of the women in the Bible and how God used them. God is using you and growing you as you walk with HIm in obedience. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers!
