You know when you just get to know someone on a deeper level and you feel so great whenever you talk to him or her. You feel like you find out something new every time you talk to them. Maybe even you don’t want to ever stop talking to them or listening to what they have to say. That’s kind of how I’m feeling right now in my relationship with God. I know I touched on this in another blog, but here at SHE it has become so much more evident the power and mighty things that prayer can do.

When I think of prayer I think a lot about how it is something I can do whenever I eat meals, whenever I’m about to go to bed or when someone is sick (which are great times to pray). I have learned a lot about making it more of an every minute thing and having that attitude throughout my day to pray without ceasing! But I think God has been challenging me even more here with becoming more intimate with Him. I have had a desire to read my Bible and a desire to hide His words in my heart, yet it’s more now. I have begun to step into searching the depths of His heart and wanting to know Him more and more each day. I have talked to God and I have prayed but I want to be more intentional about hearing His pain and wrath for the injustices here. I want to hear His words and His thoughts and make those mine.

Johnathan David Helser says in his song ‘Inheritance’,

“’When I look at you,’ says the Lord, ‘I see something that I love, I see someone that I can love, outrageously. And I have so much to bestow upon you, so much to give you,so many places to take you in my heart.’”

Even though the fifth month of this trip is coming to an end, I feel like this trip is just the beginning of where God wants to take me. He has so much more to challenge me with as He takes me into the many places of His heart. It’s so great to serve a God that listens and speaks to us as we grow in Him and become more intimate with Him.

We also have already seen God move in huge ways through our prayers. Ever afternoon, a group of people go out and do a prayer walk along the road where the bars are. I have not gone yet, but the other day two girls from our team went to pray and they prayed for a random bar that neither of them had been to. They had felt that God was leading them to pray for that specific bar. That night my group went to visit that bar and we were amazed to see that there were no prostitutes there, no men, no lights lighting up the poles, just two bartenders sitting at the bar. It was such an amazing thing to see. Our God is greater.

This is the beautiful beach we went to on Sunday. We had church on the beach and for about
5 minutes we had a visitor and he told us to turn up the volume! 🙂
