First day of VBS=25 kids. Second day of VBS=56 kids. Third day of VBS=35 kids. Fourth day=50 kids. Fifth day=God only knows…
Today is going to be the final day of VBS. I can’t even explain how much fun it has been for me. Kyle, Brittany and I were put in charge of the VBS committee so it was our job to get everything organized and ready. I also learned that I don’t need to do everything myself…it was pretty difficult for me. I’m so lucky to have a great family here that is so willing to help in any way. I had no idea what to expect, but someone on the team was always here to encourage me and lift me up in the Spirit.
Game time! They tied balloons to their ankles and tried to pop
everyone else's balloon. It was one of the favorite
games for this week. Thanks SG4K 🙂
God definitely had his hand over our place here with the joyous children that were here every day. Especially the second day with so many kids, I don’t even know how it went as smooth as it did. He was leading those kids to their activities as much as we were trying to. As I walked around and checked on the groups I could see Jesus in the smiles of the kids. Of course my favorite was when we worshipped. Every Move I Make (Siempre Que Me Muevo Es en Ti) has been one of my personal favorites. It brought me back to my childhood VBS weeks or even helping on the Kid’s Worship Team. I was reminded of the childlike faith God asks of His sons and daughters.
It was great that the kids were content to just color
a lot. This is one of my favorite children, he's super shy
but always smiles. When he does talk it's hard to hear…so
I've had a hard time catching his name very clearly!
In Luke 18 Jesus says, “Let the little children come to me….anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” Jesus wants to meet us how we are. He doesn’t care if we don’t understand or know everything. To me this means that I can always come running to Him and He will hold me in His arms. He wants me to come to Him with innocence like a child. He wants me to worship Him without caring about how I look. I love dancing and doing fun moves to kids’ songs (shocker) because it reminds me that no matter how foolish I feel or look, it is pleasing to my father in Heaven. I can and should come with that childlike desire and joy to receive what God has for me.
This week has been a great time to teach the kids about how much Jesus loves them and how He gave His life for them, but I know that God placed all these kids here to show me His love. Their smiles and hugs were so precious and I see how I need to turn around and do the same to Jesus. Solely run to Him and let Him wrap His loving arms around me.
