Sooooooo let’s just cut to the chase, I’m fully funded!! As I look back at everything that has happened throughout my fundraising process, the only word that escapes my lips is “WOW.” Through putting my hope and trust in God I found this process to be so much easier!
I don’t think I ever really knew what it meant to fully trust in God until this time. I remember chatting with people about my trip when I was first was accepted and saying things like, “it’ll be really hard” and “Ah! I don’t know how this will even happen!” I had doubts. I felt nervous. 10,700 was a VERY large number. My doubt was soon erased with people’s immediate generosity. When God responded to my apprehensions in that way I was blown away. That number was so small to God.
I had to put my fear and doubt aside to get a glimpse of God’s magnificent power. His Word says:
“Commit everything you do to the Lord.
Trust him, and he will help you.”
-Psalms 37:5
Committing everything I had to the Lord is how I made this work. It wasn’t about what people said or how they reacted to my amount needed. It was about trust. It wasn’t easy to just have a garage sale and hope for the best though. Our first sale Roni (a girl going with me on the trip) and I raised over $2,000! I learned a very good lesson in those two sale days: God’s plan for my life was to become a professional garage saleswoman, wait, I mean…to go on this trip no matter what. All I needed was to put my trust exclusively in Him.
Some friends and I at the garage sale!
As training camp approaches I feel myself getting more and more excited about what God has in store for me this next year. It’s crazy to think that in about 2 months I will be across the world serving God with a group of people (can’t wait to meet you all btw) who have the same fire in their hearts to bring Jesus to people around the world!
Speaking to friends and family about my trip I've realized that they are as astonished as I am about my funds coming in. I'm so blessed to know I have a support team that loves and stands by me on my decision to follow God's plan. I can't wait to see what God is going to do through our team this next year. My choice is simple; worry or trust. I have chosen to put my trust in God and not stress over money or what will happen. It's good to be reminded of God's greatness!
