Our newest motto for whenever we see a need or want to do start something new we say; hágalo ahora, which means do it now! We don’t want any time wasted. We have made many friendships and been able to meet families. Feeling bad about where they live and how little they have is one thing, but actually doing something about it is another.

We have already had an encounter with being able to be used by God to fix up a family’s house. Many houses have cracks in the roof or the plastic that is holding up the sides which is dangerous in some cases. One house specifically had wires that were being held together with masking tape. So using our new motto, Jimmy, a missionary staying in Jinotepe, got some electric tape to tape around the places where the wiring needed to be put together.

Last night we got to make a lot more plans for this. Patrice, our leader, is teaching us what this looks like. We’ve made committees to make sure everything actually gets done. We can talk and talk, but we truly want to see this community grow in their love. In starting to tell kids about coming to play soccer or inviting women to the women’s ministry we have been encouraged.

I started reading this book called, In A Pit With A Lion On A Snowy Day. I’ve felt convicted as to how I’ve viewed God. One of the points to remember for this past chapter was “how you think of God will determine who you become.” If I continue to think God can fix my little problems and worries and not my bigger problems, I will not be able to see how big God is. The more I have faith that God can move mountains and heal the sick; I will be able to realize that God is way bigger than I thought. Seeing that God is mighty and strong is a way that God can build my confidence to go throughout the community and glorify Him in service.
